Acer palmatum 'Livy' is a very dwarf Acer that makes an excellent choice for container growing in small spaces, offering varied rich  red tones that are at their best in partial shade. The deeply lobed, palmate leaves emerge bright red in spring on reddish-brown stems, transitioning to deep burgundy-purple in summer and then blazing brilliant red in autumn before leaf fall. Acers are slow growing and make ideal specimens for small gardens and containers where they provide multiple seasons
