The Acer “Butterfly” produces masses of variegated jagged mid-green leaves with subtle cream and pink edging. The plant forms into a compact, upright form into an attractive tree or patio pot specimen shrub. Acers like to be grown in full sun, but can tolerate semi/dappled shade, in moist well-drained soil. Acers need to be protected from cold winds so best to planted in a sheltered spot in your garden. If growing in a patio pot or container, use soil-based compost such as John Innes No.3.
